Details of Winter Coaching and Nets
Further to my recent email, I have pleasure in attaching the application form, which has been updated to include details on the membership fees for this year.
Unfortunately, just after I sent around details of this years arrangements, we were advised by TPS that they were withdrawing the Sports Hall for 6 out of our scheduled 11 dates, resulting in our losing all of January and most of March. However after a few frantic weeks exploring possibilities with Bedale’s, Bohunt, TPS, Taro, and Ditcham, we are pleased to be able to confirm that we have been able to secure Churcher’s Sports Hall on Friday evening, albeit starting a little later at the beginning of February, but providing us with 8 weeks.
The final arrangements are as follows:-
Fridays
Churcher’s Sports Hall
U7s 6.30pm to 7.30pm, starting from Friday 3 February and running through to 30 March – excluding 17 February as its half term
All Girls 7.30pm to 9.00pm, from Friday 3 February to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
Bedales Sports Hall
U9s 6.30pm to 7.30pm starting Friday 13 January, running through to 30 March – excluding 17 February
U11s 7.30pm to 8.30pm from 13 Jan to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
U13/U15 Boys 8.30pm to 9.30pm from 13 Jan to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
Sundays
U17s/Seniors 5.00pm to 7.00pm at Bedales, from 22 January to 1st April – excluding 19 Feb
Juts to remind you that having retained our Focus Club Status we have continued to invest in increasing the number of qualified coaches this winter, with a further 6 parents/older colts attending the ECB coaching courses run by Hampshire Cricket Board, and we now have our strongest coaching line up to date. The lead coaches at each age group will be as follows:-
U7 Daniel Amis
U9 James Stratford Tuke
U11 Kevan Tate
U13 Paddy May
U15 Dave Squires
U17 Phil Newman
Girls Chris Russell
and we’ll finalise the exact line up of assistant coaches working with them shortly. We will also have senior, experienced coaches available to assist where required, and provide specialist batting and bowling coaching as appropriate.
Membership Process
As we have already advised, for the first time in six years, we have increased membership fees. By prudent budgeting and tight controls on costs, we have managed to keep these to £10 in total for winter and summer, and are offering a discount of £5 for prompt payment in full.
In addition, in order to allow the coaches to concentrate on coaching and reduce the administrative burden on them and for insurance purposes, we have changed the membership process this year, and require membership forms and payments to be made before the coaching can be provided. The application form is attached, and can be returned to either our Treasurer Tim Boulton, whose details are on the application form, or myself at 3 Hanger Way, Petersfield, Hants, GU31 4QE. If you would like to make payment directly from your bank account, please contact Tim on timboulton@ntlworld.com and he will send you the details.
Naturally, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks to those of you that have passed on the details to your friends, and please continue to do so.
Finally, on behalf of Petersfield Cricket club we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2012!
Best wishes

Indoor League - Petersfield U16s vs Gosport
The U16s returned to winning ways in emphatic style following their defeat against Portsmouth by walloping an under-strength Gosport team by 104 runs.
Batting first, Petersfield smashed an aggressive 176 for 4 off their 12 overs, led impressively by Jordan Hiscock (59) and Nicky Caddick (25 off less than 10 balls), who were both brutal in the way they dismantled the Gosport attack. Well supported by Alex Thomas (22*) and Ben Friend (21), this total put ‘Field firmly in the driving seat.
Gosport had no answer to some intelligent, accurate bowling from Caddick (2 for 11), Cox (2 for 20) and Newman (1 for 19). Focused and sharp in the field, Petersfield never loosened their grip on this contest. Hiscock (2 catches) and Friend (1) were outstanding in the field, and Thomas picked up his third stumping of the season.
This was a ruthless, professional display by the U16s – a great all-round effort. At the Christmas break, Petersfield are 2nd in the table with 102 points from 5 games. Hambledon are our next opponents on January 22nd in a crucial fixture. If we can sneak a victory here, and Hambledon do us a favour by beating Portsmouth, we’re right in the mix as far as the title race goes.
