Another success for Petersfield Cricket Club

Petersfiield Indoor season round up
The new cricket season may be in its very early days, but Petersfield’s indoor side finished off its South-East Hampshire Indoor Cricket League campaign in style, holding their nerve in the last match to beat Sarisbury Athletic B and gain promotion to Division 2.
‘Field won seven out of nine to finish in second place with 170 points. Will Rice led the way with the bat scoring 171 runs, with good support from Shaun Blanks, wicket keeper Alex Thomas and Toby Austin.
Blanks (10 wickets) and Liam Charles (9) finished as the leading wicket takers, but this was a fine squad effort throughout the season with significant contributions at various times from Jack Hannam, Gabriel Broadhurst, Rory Newman and Dave Squires.
The under 13s had a tough baptism to the indoor season but they will have learnt alot and progress was made with each game they played. Thanks to Joe Clarke, Max Saint, Callumn Francis, Adam Childs, Oscar Amis, Thomas Stevens and Tom Stratford-tuke.
The Under 16s had a good season and at times outplayed the opposition, a bit more consistency and they can challenge the bigger clubs. The lads picked up the fair play award and were well led by Alex Squires in his last colts season. Well played to the other lads Gabriel Broadhurst, Ben Anscombe, Dan May, Ben Turk, Ollie Simpson and Josh Bird.

Coming Soon

Coming soon…. The all-new and improved, super-enhanced Petersfield 2014 Season Handbook, now in glorious Technicolor.
Find out which First XI player finished last season with a batting average of infinity. Or the bowler with an average of 0.00. But most importantly, it’s your indispensable guide to the new season with fixture dates, contact details, dates for your diary plus last year’s wicket takers and century makers – in short all the essential information you need for a glorious summer.
Initial reviews have been glowing. “I don’t leave home without it – a deserved best seller.” R Thomas, Liss.
“Couldn’t put it down.” J. K. Rowling, Los Angeles
“About blimmin’ time.” D Squires, Petersfield
Thanks to all our advertisers, including Agincourt Contractors, Picketts & Pursers, Petersfield Post and PetaPrint. Also Communications International Group and Wested Press for the design and print.
The Handbook should be available from next weekend. I’ll try to get copies to colts training on Friday plus the weekend matches.
Any mistakes, omissions, etc – tough cheese!

Colts Summer Training

Dear All

I hope everyone has had a good Easter break. This email contains details about:
- Summer Training
- Club kit
- A new membership referral scheme

Please note if you want to contact me it is best to use themays@ntlworld.com as the email address

Summer Training
Now that the cold and wet weather is behind us (?) we can start our Summer Cricket Training. The first sessions for the Under 7s and Under 9s start this Friday (25th April) 6pm at Penns Place and then the Girls, Under 11s, Under 13s and Under 15s all start next Monday (28th April). Details of times and venues can be found on this link:

If you have only paid for winter subs please make sure that you pay for summer subs and if your child is new to the club for the summer please note that they can try it for a couple of sessions before deciding whether to join or not. I have attached a copy of the membership form and this include payment details for subs etc.

Managers / coaches of the different age groups will also be in touch about the summer - if you haven't already heard from them or don’t hear in the next couple of weeks please contact me and I can make sure that people have you on their distribution list.

Club kit
If you are looking to buy Petersfield CC clothing for your child the link for the serious cricket website is given below:

Also the club continues to look for new ways of raising money and you could help every time you shop online (at no cost to you) by clicking first on our cause page on easy fundraising,  http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/petersfieldcc/ . This costs you nothing but gives a donation to the club every time you buy something that you would be buying anyway. Full details are available on the cause page, this link is also available from our main site on play cricket (http://petersfield.play-cricket.com/) .

New Membership Referral Scheme
Finally some news about a new scheme the club is introducing. As a club we are keen to encourage more young people to play the great sport of cricket and so the Committee have decided to introduce a colts referral incentive scheme. If you or your child can introduce a new colt member to the club (and they haven't been a member in the last 2 years) such that they join the club for this summer of training we will provide a voucher for you to get a credit towards next year's membership fees (in addition to other discounts). We will confirm with the new colt's parents who it was that referred them to the club and their notification will be final and can only be for 1 referrer. The credit will represent the different membership fees (and will equate to 20% of the summer fees of the referring member) so that it will be £6 for girls, £7 for U7 and £10 for all other age groups. There is no limit to the number of referral credits you can receive.
Thanks

John Windebank and Ben Anscombe opened, John was very unlucky and Ben scored a good 30 odd. Paddy May and Oscar Windebank also got 30s. Oscar and James finished it off.
