Petersfield 1s go top of the league

Petersfield 1st  XI match report vs Redlynch & Hale 1st XI

Petersfield 1s moved to the top of County 3 with a fine 5 wicket victory over third placed Redlynch
& Hale. Skipper Jack Hannam won the toss and inserted the hosts on a wicket that promised much
assistance to the bowlers. Shaun Blanks took the new ball and delivered early wickets bowling

With the home side at 31 for 2 skipper Tanner dug in for a gritty 40 as the middle order crashed
around him. Damian Carson bowling a typically tight spell (7-1-8-0) alongside former county spinner
Dave Cox who destroyed the middle order taking 3 for 36. It was the introduction of Dom Carson
that removed opener Tanner before ripping through the lower order (7-0-25-4). The tail fought to
125 but the reintroduction of blanks closed the innings in the 39th

Petersfield openers Damian Carson (27)and Gabes Broadhurst (12) set about the target putting on
38 for the first wicket , the latter caught by one that popped of a length. Will jameson added 18
aided by the aggressive running of Dom Carson (21) however the introduction of the pacy Hopkins
removed the pair with Petersfield at 93. Blanks and Barnes (25*) pushed the score up to 118 when
Blanks caught one that jumped off a length to be caught at short leg. Barnes continued his good
form sealing victory with a square cut six off of Hopkins giving Petersfield the win.
