Panthers So Close Again

Panthers again come so close...
A great game of T20 cricket at Grayshott saw the Panthers come agonisingly close – again – to toppling strong opponents in their latest outing.
Batting first, the 2 Bens, Anscombe and Turk, again showed their metal with a superb 76-run partnership after losing Henry early, the Turkinator following his 50 on Friday with another superb knock of 50 ret'd, striking the ball cleanly to all corners. Wonderful to see.
AT and OJ continued the assault with some sharp running and powerful stroke play, before Grayshott's opening bowler came back on and applied the squeeze at the death with some high class pace bowling.
Our total of 137 looked defendable and Grayshott were behind the rate until the closing overs before managing to pull away, two of their batsmen scoring fine half-centuries themselves, eventually overhauling our total in the 19th over for 4 wickets down. Special mention for Adam Childs, who picked up 2 wickets early on. Great stuff.
So, almost a carbon copy of Friday night. What this young Panthers side are learning (the hard way) is that T20 cricket at this level is a game of such fine margins. Just a few more runs minus a couple of the fielding lapses... we were well in this match.
But the boys should be proud of their efforts and showed their skills to great effect. Some of the hitting by the batters in particular was spectacular. So close lads, but extremely well played.
