The 1s remain in with a chance of promotion

MATCH REPORT: Petersfield beat Basingstoke to stay in promotion hunt
{submitted to Post}
Petersfield Is vs Basingstoke & North Hants IIIs
Petersfield comfortably accounted for Basingstoke on a glorious day at the Heath, winning by 5 wickets to stay in the chase for promotion from County Division 2.
Losing the toss and bowling first, Field ripped through the Basingstoke line-up, reducing their opponents at one point to 43 for 7. Opening bowlers Damian Carson (1-17) and Turk (1-20) gave nothing away, while Blanks picked up 2 wickets in an explosive first over, finishing with 3-27.
Basingstoke dug in and did well to drag their total to 125, Bradley at no. 9 batting diligently for 36. However they were second best to an on-form Petersfield attack, in which Stanley (a miserly 1-14 off 8 overs) and Charles (3-23) were completely on top in the latter stages of the innings.
In reply, Field steadily knocked off the runs in 26.2 overs, with the returning Shore (25), Dom Carson (33) and Blanks (30*) all making useful contributions. The result means Petersfield are in 6th place in the division, just outside the promotion spots, with 10 wins and 4 defeats.
Next week is a derby game as Field host Liphook & Ripsley at the Heath.
