Petersfield IIs vs Rowledge IIIs

Petersfield IIs vs Rowledge IIIs

Petersfield IIs notched up their second win of the season, beating Rowledge IIIs by 5 wickets at a wet and blustery Heath.

Batting first, Rowledge’s openers, Jones (26) and Bradbury (29) batted solidly, putting on 51 for the first wicket. However Petersfield’s bowlers stuck to their task, taking wickets at regular intervals and not allowing their opponents to build any momentum.

Ibrahim Dar led the way with 3 for 26, well supported by Shapley (2 for 14) and debutant Gumbe (2 for 29). Stand-in skipper Blanks and Squires picked up a wicket apiece, as Rowledge finished on 150 off their 42 overs.

The weather closed in as Petersfield began their reply, the rain quite heavy at times. But the players battled on, with Spencer (22), Blanks (34) and Shapley (22) making light of the difficult conditions. With opener Alex Thomas (39 n.o.) anchoring one end, ‘Field overhauled the Rowledge total with 11 overs to spare to complete a comfortable win.
