U11b Win v Portsmouth & Southsea

Played at Penns

Result: Won

We enjoyed some sun for the first time in ages and actually managed to get a match played! Not only that we won for the first time this season although we did take a technical win over Liss earlier in the season after they cancelled at the last minute.

We batted first and set a target of 268. There was a good overall performance and although we lost four wickets, three of them were due to run outs. We need to work on that aspect of the game as there were also some runs not taken that could have been! Top scorer, other than the extras (!), was Charlie Gaisford with 5.

Portsmouth & Southsea batted next and it was pretty much neck and neck until the last couple of overs. We bowled pretty tightly and the fielding was good with great keeping by George Wickens and generally some impressive backing up. Special mention to Tom Edsall and Lewes Breedon who both managed a maiden each and to our most accurate bowler Oscar Maclean who bowled two overs for 2 runs and a wicket.

Overall it was a good team effort and the match was played with a good but competitive spirit so congratulations to all the boys.
