Petersfield 1st XI vs Old Alresford

Petersfield maintained their good start to the season with a crushing seven wicket victory over rivals Old Alresford.

Field won the toss and elected to bowl reaping instant reward with Nicky Caddick reducing the visitors to 29 – 2 from 9 overs.

Jack Hannam and Chris Wood picked up a wicket a piece before drinks leaving the visitors reeling on 58 for 4 from 20 overs.

Only Ben Stanbrook showed any resistance scoring a well paced 80 before Caddick got his man caught in the deep by Chris Wood. Caddick proceeded to rip through the lower order recording outstanding figures of 6 for 30 from his 10 overs.

Fred Patten then mopped up the tail picking up two quick wickets from just 3 overs leaving Old Alresford on 157 all out.

Petersfield made yet another positive start with Billy Maisey hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. Andy Salmon was lost in the 5th over leaving skipper Ash Spencer and Maisey with some rebuilding to do. The pair added 34 before Maisey was bowled attempting one big shot too many. This bought Harry Hannam to the crease who continued his good form crashing 48 runs in double quick time before being bowled by Burt.

Spencer finished the game smashing a huge 6 over mid wicket bringing up his half century in the process. The home side’s promotion hopes remain on track after yet another maximum point victory.
