Petersfield U11As vs Locksheath

On a glorious summer evening, Petersfield U11A took on Locks Heath U11A in the SEHCA A League. Captain Matt Friend duly won the toss and elected to bat. Opening with Ben Anscombe, Matt looked to go after the bowlers but his string drive was straight to the bowler and soon Ben joined Matt back in the clubhouse with the score on just 7. At 7 for 2 after just 2 overs, Gabriel Broadhurst and Ossian Tate came to the crease. Some excellent cricket from both, a mixture of boundaries and quick 2s and 1s. Both reached 19 and both struck a boundary so retiring on 23 not out. The score was now 74 with Ossian and Gabriel having shared a 67 run partnership. Next in was Ben Turk and William Milner-Smith, but the introduction if spin saw William bowled and followed quickly by Jack Butcher. With 9 overs left Joe Eglestaff joined Ben Turk. The runs were not coming as quickly but together they got Petersfield up to a respectable 105 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Locks Heath were always under pressure. Ben Anscombe taking 4 wickets, Gabriel Broadhurst and Ben Turk 2 each and Ossian Tate with 1. Locks Heath all out for 82.

Petersfield win by 23 runs.
