Petersfield Girls vs Grayshott

Monday evening saw the Petersfield girls face Grayshott for their return 20 over game looking to avenge their earlier June defeat with a stronger team following the return of Polly and Lois to the side.

A brilliant start saw Jess bowl the Grayshott opener with her 1st ball and this was quickly followed by 2 wickets for Olivia on her under 13 debut. Some good, tight bowling along with some excellent ground fielding kept Grayshott under control. The usual strong pairs batting at the tail end of the Grayshott innings did increase the tempo of their scoring however one wicket for both Lois and Molly, both of whom bowled with good pace, kept Grayshott to 178 for 5 from their 20 overs, 8 runs less than their score against us earlier in the season.

If the bowling started well, then the batting started even better with Lorna hitting the 1st ball of the innings for 6 over square leg. More strong hitting and running followed with her and Leah scoring 29 runs in the 1st 4 overs. Petersfield built on this for the next 8 overs, running well whilst ensuring that after 12 overs they had scored 178 without loss and needed just to keep their heads in order to record the win. Any worries regarding this were soon dismissed as Katie P despatched several balls to into the outfield. Lois and Polly then saw the innings out leaving Petersfield the victors on 215 for 2 wickets, a win by 37 runs.

This was by far our best performance of the season, the ground fielding in particular was brave and focused. Lorna topped the batting with 17 runs but in only losing 2 wickets in 20 overs everyone made a positive contribution to the score. Olivia and Jess led the bowling statistics with 2 for 5 and 1 for 5 from their 2 overs respectively, Olivia in particular played well in her 1st under 13 game for the club.
