Winning the toss and electing to bat, ‘Field’s openers Damian Carson and Gabe Broadhurst, accumulating steadily, put on 113 for the first wicket without offering a chance. Indeed the only surprise was when youngster Broadhurst was given out caught behind, feathering a catch to the wicket keeper, for a well-constructed 45.
Club captain Ash Spencer continued to take the attack to Bournemouth with a quick-fire 33, before Carson and the Petersfield middle order took the total to an imposing 282 for 4, the opener completing a fine century to finish on 115 not out.
In reply, Bournemouth had no answer to the pace and aggression of Shaun Blanks (4 for 31) and nagging accuracy of Mark Stanley (4 for 17), subsiding to 88 all out. Petersfield held their catches, three for keeper Lambert, and are now third in the table, having won three out of three.
A great start to the season.
