Petersfield 1st XI vs Grayswood

Petersfield travelled to Grayswood for the first of their pre season friendly’s.
Stand in skipper Jack Hannam won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket that looked likely to deteriorate as the day went on.

Openers Fred Patten and Will Rice worked the ball into the gaps well and pushed singles to give the side a solid platform.
Patten holed out to spinner Nobes in the 16th over with the score on 56 after making a patient 24.
This bought Billy Maisey to the crease who along with Rice accelerated the run rate, culminating with Rice bringing up his half century with a towering six over the pavilion.
Maisey fell in the 25th over with field at 116 for 2 a good score looked on the cards. However this triggered a collapse which saw three wickets fall in the next three overs including the excellent Rice who made 56.
The lower order never really got going and Petersfield ended the day on 160 for 8 with Morton the stand out bowler.

Petersfield made a great start with Nigel Straw running out A.Kent in the first over with a direct hit. Callum Kent and Broughton batted well, seeing off openers Blanks and Maisey who bowled with good control.
A change of pace brought the breakthrough with spinner Toby Austin removing Kent for a solid 39. Broughton quickly followed, the experienced Nigel Straw trapping him LBW.
Shaun Blanks, Maisey and Patten bowled well bringing a couple of wickets however Jackson put away the bad ball to see Grayswood home in the 39th over.
A good effort from Petersfield for a first game, five dropped catches dictating the end result.
