Petersfield U13s vs Portsmouth

With the manager away for the first away game of the season for the under 13’s it was left to the coach Paddy May to run things and provide me with a brief report before he jetted off for a week’s holiday.
The result of the game (a win for Petersfield) gives the under 13 lads their first win for 2 seasons which I understand was a fantastic effort all round.
We batted first with Daniel Parry opened the batting for the first time scoring 31 confirming his manager’s faith in his ability and temperament as an opener. Gabriel Broadhurst (30 retired) continued his fine start to the season The rest of the batting showed that everyone contributed to take the lads to 102 for 8.

The bowling performance again showed that the lads are a talented bunch with wickets for 7 of the 9 bowlers. Alex Squires and Rob Schofield took 2 wickets a piece opening the bowling and put the Portsmouth players under pressure with 2 wickets in the first 2 overs.
The bowling performance was backed up with some excellent fielding and catching
Ben Ascombe 2, Dan May, Rory Classen and 1 for Josh Bird in his first game as wicketkeeper, in which I understand that he kept very well giving the manager a possible selection issue in the future.
