Petersfield 1st XI vs Four Marks

Petersfield hosted Four Marks hoping to make it four wins on the trot boosting their promotion hopes.

Four Marks elected to bat on a hard, dry wicket promising a big score. Christie Salmon had other ideas picking up a wicket in the sixth over with the visitors on just 20.

Hatherley and Burrows pushed the score along until Jack Hannam caught the latter with a low diving catch off the bowling of Nigel Straw. This triggered a collapse with Caddick and Straw reducing the visitors to 74 for 6 just 5 overs later.

Hatherley fell soon after to a superb one handed catch by Christie Salmon giving Caddick his second wicket. The Four Marks lower order fought well to reach 135 in the 32nd over. Nigel Straw finishing with excellent figures of 4 for 19.

Andy Salmon and Fred Patten started the Petersfield innings patiently putting on 88 for the first wicket before Salmon fell for 28 in the 21st over.

Skipper Ash Spencer holed out looking to finish the game early in the 26th over. Harry Hannam joined Patten at the crease with Patten bringing up his half century on his first start of the season. Hannam then hit 17 from his next seven balls giving field a comfortable 8 wicket victory.
