Petersfield Girls vs Portsmouth

The 1st game of the season saw Petersfield take on Portsmouth at the Heath. Batting first Petersfield started well against a side that we know to be one of the strongest in the area however the frequent loss of wickets kept holding us back.

A strong partnership between Lois and Polly, both playing their 1st competitive games for the club, saw us add 11 runs for the 4th pair, Lois hitting 2 4’s in the process and this was followed by a quick 8 runs from Emma in the last pair taking the Petersfield score to 260 for the loss of 5 wickets.

In reply Portsmouth started slowly especially after some good opening bowling from Molly however their stronger batters were still to come and a flurry of boundaries put Portsmouth close to their target with 5 overs to play. However a second direct hit run out from Katie Pegden saw Portsmouth wobble but then regain their composure to finish on 274 for 5, a winning margin of 14 runs.

Emma top scored with a net 8 runs. Chloe, Molly and Jess all bowled well and Katie was the star fielder with her 2 run outs late on.
