Petersfield U11Bs vs Hambledon B

Petersfield won the toss and put Hambledon into bat on an overcast morning. The Kay brothers Ben and Seb took 2 early wickets which restricted Hambledon's openers. Petersfield's bowlers all bowled well to stop Hambledon pulling away. A wicket maiden by Charlie Gaisford mid innings started to make Hambledon's task even harder.

Petersfield fielded superbly. Charlie Gaisford made a brave stop on the boundary and Ben Ringrose-Voase was superb in his first match. Ben Anscombe took a wicket at the end of the innings to restrict Hambledon to 284.

Seb Kay (10) and Kit Claason (5) got Petersfield off to a great start with 29 off the first 4 overs and Max Hendrick and Ben Ringrose-Voase kept the momentum going taking the score to 250 after 8 overs. Luke McGuire and Charlie Gaisford faced some good bowling but still kept Petersfield in the game before ben kay and James Bradley put on 19 to set the game up for a very close finish. A very unfortunate deflection off the bowler's stumps and a superb piece of fielding with a direct hit ran Ben Kay out and therefore Petersfield were left with 24 runs to get off the last 4 overs. A great effort by Ben Anscombe (12) and Thomas Stevens got the team to within 14 but 3 wickets in the last 3 overs meant that Hambledon just scraped through.

Congratulations to all the team on a great effort - a win is not too far away.
