Petersfield Girls Perform at the 1st ever England Test Match at the Rose Bowl

Peterfield Girls cricket team were lucky enough to perform an on pitch demonstration match against Redlynche and Hale cricket club during the lunch interval of England’s test match at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

Despite the best efforts of the rain the girls were thrilled to play a game at such a great venue in front of a full house of over 20,000 spectators.

Highlights included being shown on the big screens, Jess taking a wicket with the 1st ball of the day and Lorna, Jess, Katie P and Katherine all hitting 4’s to the boundary rope. Katie Nolan stole the show with a big six over fine leg and the advertising hoardings and into the crowd. The coach had to send her round to apologise to the lady who nearly lost her lunch!

Many thanks go to the Hampshire ECB officials who organised the day and to the ground staff at the Rose Bowl who still allowed us onto the pitch despite the huge amount of work that they had to do on such a wet day.

Many thanks also to Chris Russell and Anthony Williams who accompanied the girls on the day.
